[A  Real  'Put Down'  Editorial Piece] Oakspe; A New Bible, in the Words of Jehovih and his Angel Ambassadors. A Sacred History of the Dominions of the higher and Lower Heavens on the Earth for the past Twenty-four Thousand Years; together with a Synopsis of the cosmogony of  the Universe; the creation of Planets; the creation of Man; the Unseen Worlds; the Labor and Glory of Gods and Godesses in the Etherean Heavens;  with the New commandments of Jehovih to Man of the Present Day. Anno Kosmon 84.         From the foregoing title, which we have copied in full, the  reader may infer that this book is an extraordinary one. It may be considered from two standpoints; either as an exceedingly laborious joke, after the fashion of the very popular “New Gospels of Peace” that appeared shortly after the close of the late civil war; or as the work of one afflicted with the form of mental disease called “religious mania.”  In either case, we can only characterize its contents as wild, rambling, incoherent, incomprehensible, idiotic bosh, that defies serious criticism, because of its monumental absurdity.      The publishers, whoever they are, evidently have an eye open to the main chance, as they follow their announcement of the “New Bible” with the statement that its “price at retail is $7.50, with a liberal discount to the trade” We  learn, furthermore, that “the demand for Oabspe is unprecedented for so expensive a book. Newspaper after newspaper has devoted columns to its significance. It is sought for by devout christians, Jews, Freethinkers, Infidels and Spiritualists, and is highly prized by all other intelligent people.” So extraordinary a production is entitled to a gratuitous advertisement, which we freely give it. Note: In early 1882, for some unknown reason, Newbrough recalled , the  sold copies of the 1st printing.  He then returned the 2nd printing books in the original covers with removed and changed texts etc.

Being a fallen 33 degree Mason he was out to destroy high Spiritualism.   He worked with Theosophists to do this by assigning themselves the job of 'testing mediums'. He did not believe in Soul embodiments or reincarnation, hence his mostly male following of people who are unable at this time to reach any further in their evolution than the level of earth learned intelligence in education,  lacking any natural perception to know the truth when it is presented.

Their followers maybe newly on the changing spiral path of involution  but Oahspe will never lead them to the true inner temple truths.  But,  Oahspe may serve a purpose by letting the student know eventually  it is not the real mystery story,  if, the neophyte can keep his mind open to higher truths outside of Oahspe, hidden in the history of a few religions and mystery schools and raise questions about Oahspe's blatant misrepresentation (false Masonry beliefs for people outside of the fold.).  For anyone having good perceptive powers (women) and having done some good research, one can see quickly  Oahspe is mostly mixed up fantasy and names.

Newbrough, more an  18th century man, not a man of his 19th century day having a vision of the future (after 2012) as he claimed,  did not believe that women should  have rights.  Newbrough never expresses the real and hidden attributes of Mother as a major part of Infinite Soul of ALL THAT IS,  but only as one of nine entities of Jehovah (ih) who is a Hebrew paternal tribal earth god.   He denies Women's rightful place in the scheme of ALL THAT IS.  To throw the student back to the levels of an earth god and deny the Schekinah (equal female aspect) is insulting to women.  He tried to keep hidden the coming unveiling of the REAL mystery of the hidden MOTHER and her family.   This shows he was denying the truth to the coming new world.  He also seemed very against the women's movement of his time. In his earlier books he declares he is an anti feminist in his statements about women.  We and the court in NM declared him a cult leader and his cult came to an abysmal end for everyone.

The following inspiring description of the Christ-like figure of Apollonius is given in this book.

     "A strange distinctive figure, clad in white  linen and not in garments wrought of skins; with feet unsandled and with locks unshorn; austere, reserved, and of meagre mien; with-eyes cast upon the ground as was his manner, Apollonius of Tyana drew to him with something of a saint's attraction all simple folk, and yet won as intimates the Emperors of Rome.

     "Through his love for all life and swift appreciation of the beauty of the human form, he drew high to the sufferings of the body and became acquainted with the sufferings of the soul. He sought to heal, or at least to soothe, some of the distresses, physical and spiritual, of poor humanity; and to such a singular degree of skillfulness did he attain in the healing arts of his day, that even the sacred oracles of Agaea and of Delphi pronounced him more than mortal, referred the distempered body and the smitten soul to him, for relief, knowing that from his very presence proceeded a peculiar virtue, a benign influence an almost theurigic power.

     "By years of silence and contemplation, by extensive travel and by a continuous spiritual and worldly experience, he deepened to no minute measure, an originally, powerful. and intense personality, and so it was that at length he became the admiration not only of all countries through which he passed, but of the whole Roman and Hellenic world. Cities sent envoys and embassies to him decreeing him public favors; monarchs bestowed special dignities upon him, counting him worthy to be their counsellor; incense was burnt before his altars; and after his death divine honours were paid to his images, which had been     erected, with great enthusiasm, in all the temples of the gods. Nor did his fame evanesce. All down the ages his name has carried in it something of a hurricane; for speculative critics of both early and later days have thought to find in the life of this exceptional character a parallel to the life of Christ, and to ground an argument thereon, against the supernal claims of the Son of Man. Hence for centuries even the name of Apollonius      wag odious to Christians; for it seemed the very Gospel of the Son of Man was at stake; and Christian apologists, on their part, in self-defense, were not lacking to attack fiercely their adversaries' champion, and to denounce him as little better than an imposter, a sorcerer and a magician; on this account they have generally failed to understand the man. They have lacked, at least in their combative approach to him, that sweet affection for signal worth, that gracious patience for nobleness, which is absolutely essential to comprehend a new or startling character or mode of life."

One needs to ask and seriously research why the written work of the most spiritual of Spiritualists and 
Thomas Paine suffered mass book burnings in the terrible period of the late 1800s, 70 years after his death.

Publishers of these works were sent to prison and John Lant, publisher of the Toledo Sun in Ohio was one that had been in prison for a few years prior to meeting Newbrough. While beginning the printing on the original Oahspe, Lant trusted Newbrough but, only until he glimpsed some of Newbrough's dark secret associations. This began the parting of the ways for Newbrough not only with Lant his 'Printer' of the original Oahspe, but also with his wife and children as well.

Why, you should ask were Oahspe and its author & Theosophical books and their authors left in peace from book burnings?   Because they denounced the truth of High Spiritualism and the efforts of educated pioneering women in the sciences?  What other truths were being hidden by this 'Replacement Plan' for control of people's minds? 

What else has the world lost by these little known but, extensive book  burnings of that period?  Was Madam Blavatsky the real author of ISIS UNVEILED?  I for one will never believe it. Mrs. Patterson who had financed Blavatsky's Book as well as Newbrough's Oahspe had lived with the Newbrough family in New York for a while. She discovered some wrong doings around both these cults and their leaders and let it be known, ending the efforts of the original Oahspe that Lant kept and all this while
Mrs. Patterson, standing in agreement with Mrs. Newbrough, ordered the printing press removed from Newbrough's control.

Cora L.V. Richmond, founder of the First National Spiritulist Association in America,  was one of the most important, respected and best known mediums in America and in England, but Newbrough refused to acknowledge that she existed as he was on a mission to discredit Spiritualism while pretending to be a researcher testing mediumship. On one of his investigations in full view of others, he nearly killed a very powerful physical medium, Mrs. Compton when grabbing her while in full trance. It took her many months to recover (Ref:Jan 31, 1875 Test Case 422a).

As our contribution to the efforts of the higher spirit world, we are publishing the wonderful spiritual truth of HIGHER Spiritualism that John Ballou Newbrough and his 19th Century agents behind the scenes sought so earnestly to destroy for ever. Oahspe was NEVER Spiritualism as he originally claimed, but dangerous occultism. 

To counteract this dominance of occult we are publishing many volumes of Cora's wonderful contributions for future generations. Her gifts were assisted by the deceased young Harvard graduate, Adin Augustus Ballou, whose father was Rev. Adin Ballou the Universalist, well respected for having the longest lasting, successful Hopedale Communities in America. One was in Ohio, close to where Newbrough was born. Newbrough was named by his mother after this Ballou or Hosea Ballou his cousin as they were both Universalists.  Did  Newbrough call himself  'Ballou'  in Oahspe to ride on the famous coat-tails of the well loved Universalists? 

Because of Cora's marvelous gift starting at eleven years of age and Adin his son speaking while she was in trance, proving life after death, it changed Adin Ballou into a Spiritualist. We can safely say that Adin was the father of Spiritualism. 

You may rightly wonder now why Newbrough only signed Ballou on Oahspe instead of his full name that is required. Also his choice of the name Oahspe, very confusing when the public knew of Cora's very well known Spirit guide, Ouina, from the very high spiritual realms. Did he do all this to sell his book and confound people? 

When one realizes that Newbrough also twisted and plagiarized Rev. Adin Ballou's successful communities, an interesting picture begins to emerge. 

Cora's works will be better understood in the future than they were in the past. This knowledge, wisdom and rare spirituality will exist again for the future as it is the highest truth for the benefit of future generations. It must be rescued before it is lost forever.

   Tom Paine's life was as heroic as his vision of a better world. Born in poverty in England, he was helped to America by Ben Franklin; he became an editor in the little provincial capital of Philadelphia. With the news of the battle fought at Lexington came the crystallization of ideas that had formed as he had watched and worked in the embryonic democracy of the new world. Paine wrote "Common Sense." It swept the colonies, adding great flames to the fire of independence. When the guns were silent, "Common Sense" left it's imprint on the shape and on the very words of the Constitution.
   Paine's work in America was done and "where freedom was not there was his home." In England and then in France he fought for the Rights of Man. He became a member of the French Convention.
